Made for the Finnish army, this style of cargo trouser was called the M65 and was produced in the 1980s. The wool pants had the traditional, oversized cargo pockets on the sides and were made from tightly woven Melton wool in order to protect personnel from the cold, wet Finnish winters.

The trousers are designed for practicality in the field. On the bottom of each cargo pocket was a hidden bellow that extended to offer extra storage space. They also had a panel of fabric sewn behind the knee to offer waterproof protection if kneeling on the wet ground was necessary.

The wool itself was so compact it made the pants water resistant. And its high absorbency meant that the wool would keep people warm even when it became wet.
