ARTIST EDITION

TAKASHI TSUSHIMA

ARTIST The works of Japanese illustrator Takashi Tsushima (b. 1969) are defined by geometric shapes and a soft semi-transparent quality, reminiscent of watercolour painting.

His artworks and prints are created for books, textile designs and pottery, as well as being exhibited in their own right. His illustrations for ARKET’s children’s collection depict a group of familiar temperate-forest animals, all captured with a characteristic whimsy.

The grid is an essential element of our visual identity. It represents the notion of the archive and is used to organise and display information ranging from the names of plants to fabric weights and different types of materials used in our collections. These nine squares symbolise the separate parts that together form our world, and they are also the areas where we strive to make a difference.
