The Canadian army field jacket is characterised by heavy-duty zips, big pockets, a bendable frame around the hood and rip-stop fabric – all features that help this jacket stand up to the rigors of the military.

The jacket has four big front pockets, each of which is extra long and can be folded over to ensure water or sand cannot come in. The front placket is a mix of buttons and hook-and-loop fasteners, so military personnel can close it quickly. There is also a bulky zip stitched on top of the placket, making it easy to repair on the go if it should rip or break.

A metal frame shapes the front of the hood, offering more coverage. And there are removable pads in the elbows to provide extra protection for personnel lying on the ground.
