This style of flak jacket used by the U.S. military is made from four layers of protective Kevlar that shield the abdomen and throat from shrapnel and other flying fragmentation.
Characterised by a rounded collar and oversized placket, this flak jacket is a heavy and practical piece. It has large front pockets with bellows that extend their size to accommodate many items. It also has a stiff, rounded collar divided into two overlapping halves that can be worn up or folded down.
Made from durable nylon, the back hem is rounded to protect the spine, and reinforcing shoulder panels have an adjustable strap so that a backpack can be worn over the vest.
