166 fabric Wool hopsack weave

Hopsack fabric was originally woven from coarse and durable hemp or jute fibres to make storing sacks for hops used in beer brewing, but is now used for unlined jackets and fine suiting. Loosely woven from natural fibres, the characteristic structured fabrics have a forgiving drape and are airy due to their open texture.

The fabric is made with a balanced basket weave, a larger-scale version of a plain-weave structure, where two or more yarns are combined as one in both the lengthwise and crosswise direction to produce a subtle geometric texture in the fabric.

Loosely woven from wool, linen, cotton or other natural fibres, the characteristic structured hopsack fabrics are strong and durable with a natural resistance to wrinkling. They have a forgiving drape, which is easy to tailor, and are airy due to their open texture.
